Four scholarships from the UFA Alumni Association were awarded at the Proctor High
school Award Ceremony on Thursday June 8, 2000.
Three were from the fund at the Community Foundation of Herkimer-Oneida Counties, Inc. The fourth was from our
treasury for a girl we thought deserving.
The criteria for the scholarships are considerable improvement in academic performance in the junior and senior
years, based on earlier grades and involvement in community service.
The UFA Boosters Scholarship is for a student athlete from the $5000 remaining in the Boosters Fund at the close
of UFA.
The scholarship winners are:
Sheena Stockton, a girl that was failing freshman year turned herself around and doubled courses in her sophomore
year, went to night and summer shools. In her junior year she started nursing at BOCES, joined the basketball cheer
leading team and received all A's! She graduated with a Regents Diploma. Sheena is the student that was awarded
through the association treasury.
Ruben Semaia, had a difficult tenth grade, by not attending school and receiving all F's. He was able to reflect
on his past and has evolved into a mature and hard working young man, and has been pretty much an A student for
the past two years. He plays Varsity football for Proctor and is employed full time as supervisor at a local restaurant.
